Jolee is an emerging singer-songwriter from Buffalo, New York. Jolee plays acoustic pop infused with smooth R&B using his guitar as his surfing soundboard. Where he differs from so many other young acts is that he doesn’t go for the bubblegum pop sound and other gimmicks, but gives us a more personal and heartfelt sound, one that connects not only with younger listeners, but older ones too.

jolee-cover-350Jolee has that clean Jason Mraz and John Mayer inspiration in his work. Yet, there’s still a unique element to Jolee’s music that puts him in his own world.

While there is a bit of sticky sweetness involved in Jolee’s debut single, “Stranger/Lover/Stranger”, if you cue the lyric (“You know what keeps me up all night. You know how I’m terrified. You chased my demons far away. Your burning torch led the way”), you’ll hear that it is a showcase of the depth he is capable of.

And though he is deemed a pop artist, Jolee also incorporates the acoustics of a pure singer-songwriter. With that kind of talent and versatility, this debut single seems to be a precursor for the good material he’ll no doubt be busting out in the future.

From his catchy acoustic guitar riffs to his impressive falsetto, Jolee’s performance is touching, as he sings earnestly about believing you know somebody, only to find out that you really don’t. Jolee has a very nice, soothing voice and you can really hear the emotion he puts into the song.

Though many may assume his music is skewed for younger trendy pop generation, I believe that Jolee is kicking ass musically and pushing lyrical boundaries which point him to an all-age, all-embracing audience.

Jolee is no cookie-cutter pop artist to be deemed as just an overnight sensation. Moving forward and perfecting his own sound amidst a bevy of great influences, the singer will soon be ready to ascend into the higher places and above the empty pop valleys below. Jolee has now quietly entered the scene with “Stranger/Lover/Stranger”, his rite of passage to setting the stage for even better things to come.
