Chris Bender – “Glad In It” blends gospel, symphonic soul and pop power

With a foundation built on the love of God, Christopher Bender was born in Stoughton, Massachusetts and raised by his mother in Brockton, Massachusetts. At the age of thirteen, it was revealed to Chris that his purpose was to minister through worship. Since then the award-winning artist has ministered alongside some of Gospel’s most influential artists, such as Shirley Caesar, Donnie McClurkin, JJ Hairston, Fred Hammond, and Israel Houghton among others. He has also been features on works with Rashad McPherson, Ayana McDonald, David Altenor, Amante Lacey, and Matthew Greaves.

Chris Bender’s sophomore single, “The Blood Song” debuted at #22 on the Billboard charts, while his follow-up single, “Glad In It,” released on July 24, 2020 hit the Billboard Gospel charts at #3. Bender has consistently stamped the gospel industry with his gospel trademark blends of old and new school elements inspired by soul, R&B and pop. His latest single simply opens another chapter in his ambitious quest to connect with a worldwide audience that can appreciate gospel music with Bender’s soulful slant.

“Glad In It” works both for worship and as an inspirational song to blast on the car radio: “So many things are going wrong. But these trials come to only make you strong. The Father really needs you to keep holding on. And keep a praise on your lips, cause it won’t be long.” Chris Bender communicates urgency, perseverance, and a strong musicality throughout the track.

“Glad In It” continues to establish Chris Bender as a major force within faith-induced urban music, as he produces yet another project that highlights the depth of his vocal dexterity and strength of musical presentation. Bender fuses significant symphonic soul and pop power into his latest gospel offering.

And while this expansive arrangement has been used in his previous outings, Bender leans into it a little more heavily here, and it really works, as the vocalist delivers an exceptionally authentic and layered sonic backdrop for his culturally and spiritually relevant message.

Transcending classifications and genre limitations, Chris Bender uses this track to once again fully express himself and, consequently, leaves his heart and intentions exposed, for the world to see, and we are all better for it. Bender comes out the gate with a voice that only he can carry off, from the opening bar, and claims you as a fan by the final notes of the song.

“The enemy he wants you to quit. Wants you to throw in the towel, and say this it. But I’ve been sent to remind you, your help is here today. Whenever you get in trouble, here’s what you gotta say – I will be glad in it.” Chris Bender reaches down and grabs you by the shoulders and pulls you in

Hands down “Glad In It” is one of the best Pop, R&B and Soul infused tracks – gospel or secular – I have heard in a long time. It is strong musically and lyrically. It has a serious message in its lyrics and will make you think about your own journey.
